You could try using an application available from MS website called filemon, Simply run filemon, then launch the antivirus installation and watch to see what it is accessing. May or may not work and it may be more effort than it's worth.

Had this problem a while back with an old nforce 2 board. A bios feature called soread spectrum(or something like that) was the cause of it. Disabling it cured the problem for me. This "feature" would cause my clock to gain a few minutes per hour ...
